What Does the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheet Set Feel Like?
The percale hemmed sheets feel very crisp to the touch. This is a common characteristic of cotton percale sheets. The percale weave style leaves sheets feeling crisp and looking matte on the bed. The best way to describe that crisp feeling is to think of a fresh pressed, button down shirt!

Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Materials
Boll & Branch uses 100% organic cotton in its percale hemmed sheets. The cotton has been OEKO-Tex, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and Fair Trade certified.

So, what do you need to know before checking out? Let’s talk about some key considerations.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
As a hot sleeper, knowing if a set of sheets is going to trap heat is crucial before making that purchase. I’m happy to report that this set of sheets sleeps cool! Cotton is known for its natural breathability and percale weave sheets tend to let air flow through very easily.
Boll & Branch also formulated a specific cooling weave to maximize this set of sheets’ cooling power. These sheets feel really lightweight as well, so overheating and night sweats are a non-issue here!

Care Instructions
The percale hemmed sheets are machine-washable. Here’s what Boll & Branch recommends:
Wash in cold water with similar colors. The company recommends using liquid detergent without bleach or brighteners. For whites, non-chlorine brighteners and bleach may be used.
From there, you can tumble dry in the dryer on low heat. If you notice any persistent wrinkles after drying, Boll & Branch recommends warm ironing to get them out.
Allergies
While this set is not marketed as hypoallergenic, cotton is known to not trap allergens in your sleep environment.

How Do the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets Compare To Other Sheets?
Comparison is key when it comes to buying new bed sheets! Let’s see how the Boll & Branch sheets compare to two other popular options on the market.
Boll & Branch vs Parachute
One other popular brand known for its bedding is Parachute. The brand has three main sheet sets to offer, but let’s compare the Boll & Branch percale sheets to Parchute’s linen set.
The biggest difference here is the materials used to make these sheets. Linens are made with flax, and Parachute sources 100% European flax to construct its linens. Boll & Branch uses 100% organic long-staple cotton for its percale sheets.
These two materials produce different feels. Linens will have a texture to them, while the cotton percale sheets will be smooth but feel like crisp, fresh pressed shirts. If you prefer smooth sheets, then the Boll & Branch sheets are for you.
Both should be great options for hot sleepers, as both flax and cotton are breathable materials. Both have luxury price points, though the Boll & Branch sheets are not as expensive as Parachute’s.
Who Should Get the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets?
- Fans of crisp, cotton sheets
- Anyone looking for luxury cotton sheets
Who Should Get the Parachute Linen Sheets?
- Fans of textured, linen sheets
- Hot sleepers

Boll & Branch vs Saatva
The two main weaves for cotton sheets are the percale and sateen weave. One of our favorite sets of sateen sheets are the Saatva Organic Sateen sheets. Here’s how they compare:
Both Saatva and Boll & Branch have acquired GOTS certifications for these sets of sheets, making them fairly eco-friendly and certified organic.
However the main difference is the weave style used to construct them.
Boll & Branch uses a percale weave which leaves sheets feeling crisp and looking matte when you drape them on the bed.
The sateen weave leaves sheets feeling buttery smooth and some have a slight sheen to them. Additionally, percale sheets are better for hot sleepers due to this weave style having more room in its construction for airflow. However, if you get cold quickly, sateen sheets are better at retaining heat to help you feel cozy and warm while you sleep.|
Who Should Get the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets?
- Fans of crisp, cotton sheets
- Anyone looking for a wide color variety
Who Should Get the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets?
- Fans of smooth, buttery sateen sheets
- Anyone looking for that all-white hotel look and feel to sheets

FAQs
Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed sheets.
Are Boll & Branch sheets percale or sateen?
Boll & Branch makes two sets of sheets that feature the percale and sateen weave, respectively. This review covered the percale set. The brand’s Signature Hemmed sheets feature the sateen weave and will feel much softer and not as crisp as the percale sheets.
What’s special about percale sheets?
Percale sheets are a great option for hot sleepers. This weave style allows air to flow much more easily through the sheets, meaning you shouldn’t overheat while you sleep with them. This weave style is also more resistant to pilling over the sateen weave, and can be more durable.
How long will my Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets last?
Because the percale weave is more durable than the sateen weave, this set should last you at least two to three years with good care!
